Title: Owner / CrossFit Trainer

Full Name: Nora Leigh Sweet

Age: 29

When did you start using CrossFit as an exercise program? May of 2013

What is your ‘Why’?

I love everything about it.  I love feeling of giving others knowledge and seeing them use it successfully.  I love the feeling I get when I see an athlete succeed at something they didn’t think they could do.  Last year at our CF Open Friday night lights, there were a couple of moments I literally got choked up about an athlete’s performance.  I am so lucky to have found a passion I had no clue I would need in my life.

CrossFit is so much more than fitness to me.  It is a community.  My athletes mean a lot to me and I want them to do well whether that is getting a PR, changing the way they view food, or the weight on their scale.  I don’t get to coach as much as I’d like because of my crazy schedule but when I get to, I like to make sure my athletes to enjoy their class, learn something new, and make small yet constant improvements.  I don’t want them to get caught up in the number on the score board.  I want them to want to get better and be a well rounded athlete.  Even if that means not having the best score of the day everyday.

Coaching is so rewarding.  I never thought I could be someone who could have influence others in such a positive way.

What is your favorite thing about CrossFit Max Kane? There are so many great things about CFMK it’s hard to choose just one! But I love the community and how we all support one another in workouts but outside of the gym too.

What are you favorite CrossFit related activities? My favorite CrossFit related activity is Olympic weightlifting! I think it is amazing how we can engineer our bodies around a bar and move weight to our shoulders or over our heads. It is amazing what we can do with our bodies when you push them!

What is your favorite cheat meal? This is a hard one because there are so many great cheats. But I will go with an Italian pasta meal followed by a brownie cheesecake!

Tell us 1 more thing about yourself. I love to play Just Dance on the Xbox Kinect when I have the time!

What certifications do you currently hold? CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, USA Weightlifting L-1 Sports Performance Coach

BEFORE AND AFTER

My transformation after the completion of the Whole 30 diet and CrossFit strength cycle.

More About Nora…

Nora has been an athlete her entire life, participating in softball and basketball as a child, and most notably, running track and field during high school. Her passion for fitness started early and has evolved into continued success within the sport of CrossFit and a added desire to coach other athletes.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Polytechnic in 2011 and began her engineering career right away. She now works at Cottrell Inc. in Gainesville, Georgia as a Design Engineer.

CrossFit has been a major cornerstone in Nora’s life, as she devotes almost all of her free time to the sport, the gym’s community, and developing herself as a competitor. She has found an unexpected love for weightlifting, something she might never have discovered otherwise, and continues to improve and progress. Nora hopes to share the knowledge and success she has gained from Max Kane by continuing to learn and help others through coaching.

What got you started? When I moved to Flowery Branch, I was looking to find a gym similar to the one I was going to in Cumming.  But I was having trouble finding the same atmosphere.  I had heard of CrossFit and that it was a great way to exercise and see results plus this weird diet that you couldn’t have bread.  “What?!”  But anyways, I started searching and found CrossFit Max Kane.  I liked the location and it said Free Intro online so I had to check it out.  I got there and everyone was really nice and showed me what to do.  I only remember that there were Turkish Get-Ups in the WOD and that I was challenged way more then I had been in a while from such a short intense workout.  After that I was so excited to see what was next!

What is your favorite workout? Hmm…I’m not sure I have one particular favorite workout, but I do love anything with Olympic lifts in the workout!

Zone or Paleo? When I combine the two together, I see the most results!  Eating real, healthy food while measuring the portions is great for fueling your workouts.
