Max Kane Kids & Teens
Forging The Future of Fitness
CrossFit Kids is a method of teaching Greg Glassman’s CrossFit to children ages 3-18. Based on the principle of Mechanics, Consistency and then Intensity, CrossFit Kids emphasizes good movement throughout childhood and adolescence. Using activities that kids naturally enjoy — pulling, pushing, running, throwing, climbing, flipping, rolling, lifting, and jumping, CrossFit Kids provides a fitness program for children and adolescents that is safe, FUN, and energetic.
We meet every Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday afternoon from 5:00-5:45pm.
What We Do
At Max Kane Health & Fitness, our Max Kane Kids & Teens program uses a combination of skill practice, workouts, and games to help children (ages 5-15) develop in multiple areas of physical fitness. In a group setting, and under the supervision of a certified CrossFit Kids trainer, children will learn elements of gymnastics, weightlifting, body-weight movements, running, jump roping, and more.
Our goal at Max Kane Health & Fitness is to help children (aged 5-15) become the best possible version of themselves. In addition to learning new skills, children in our program will learn to make better food choices, gain a greater confidence in themselves and their abilities, become more focused in school, transition to new sports more easily, and reduce their risk of sports-related injury.
Our Coaching Staff
Michelle Hulsey has almost 15 years experience in teaching, coaching, and mentoring children (ages birth-18). She currently holds a Master’s Degree in Middle Grades Education and an Educational Specialist Degree in Teaching and Instruction. She has been involved in CrossFit for nearly four years, and her current certifications include CrossFit Level-1 Trainer, CrossFit Kids Trainer, and CPR/AED/First Aid.
Before resigning her position to stay-at-home with her new daughter, Michelle was a 6th grade Science teacher at South Hall Middle School for 13 years (2002-2015). In addition to teaching, Michelle has also headed the competitive cheerleading program at both South Hall (3 years) and Flowery Branch High School (2 years). She has spent the last four years heading the SHMS cross country program, where the boy’s team recently earned the title of Hall County MS Cross Country Champions (2015). She also frequently volunteers in various children’s programs at her church, Blackshear Place Baptist.
Wes Smith has been training in the sport of CrossFit for nearly five years. With the sport making such a difference in his life, he decided he wanted to help others of all ages learn to enjoy the sport both safely and effectively. In early 2014, Wes earned his CrossFit Level-1 Trainer certification and just recently earned his CrossFit Kids Trainer certification. His two daughters, ages 14 and 11, have also taken up the sport and shown great improvements. To coincide with her CF Kids participation, the youngest has also become involved in Max Kane Barbell.
Wes has been involved in heading children’s activities through 10 years of working in children’s church ministries, alongside his wife Kimberly. Before his daughters moved into the Academy Soccer league, he also acted as both head and assistant coach in their recreational league for over five years.
