No Offseason

It’s that time of the year when our personal schedules start filling up rapidly with social events and responsibilities.  We have enough on our plates already with family and work commitments, but now we have the holidays to add stress to our lives.  It’s so easy to let these extracurricular activities bog us down and take up all of our free time.  However, we cannot let these times interfere with our health.  We must remain mentally strong and focused on our lives so our excuses do not keep rolling and rolling into a massive snowball.  There is not an offseason in the sport of fitness.

Our nutrition is most likely the biggest failure at this time of the year.  Unless you have the discipline of steel to remain clean throughout, you are going to have some hiccups along the way.  We are all humans and are far from perfect.  However, be strong enough to let that cheat meal be only a meal and not a day, week, month, or year.  There is no reason not to enjoy the seasonal treats with friends and family, but go into it with a plan.  Everyone is different so one plan does not work for the other.  Get yourselves an accountability partner to help out, while they will most likely fail too, perhaps you can keep each other from falling to far off the wagon.
The second thing to fail will be our workouts.  Nutrition directly affects our workouts so if we are failing there, our workouts are bound to suffer.  However, it’s those days that we lose our direction to the gym that is even worse.  If you haven’t realized it by now, working out is something that we have to make routine in our daily lives to see results.  When we let our gym time slowly fall by the wayside, we lose that motivation of what we started for.  Regardless of how busy you are, do not let your gym time suffer.  We will all be there pushing through the Tabatas, AMRAPS, Girls, and Hero WODS.  Showing up, stretching, and moving is much better than the millions of people doing nothing to improve their health. If you’ve got an injury, we’ve got ways to work around anything and everything, so using it as an excuse doesn’t count.  Oh yeah, the cold mornings do not count either!
These upcoming holidays are all about family.  Therefore, you owe it to yourself and your family to continue the road to a life of being healthy and fit.  Speed bumps and walls will discourage you from moving on, BUT the coaches AND other athletes at Max Kane are here for encouragement, advice, and accountability.  Do not let the holidays knock you out of your routine; they may knock you down, but take pride in picking yourself back up and putting in the grunt work to reach those goals you have set!
