CrossFit vs. Life
CrossFit vs. Life
I’ve learned that through CrossFit I have become more tough mentally not just physically. Everyone knows you can push your body past what you think is possible as long as you are willing to push past that really uncomfortable feeling when you are sucking wind in a WOD (or workout). I will admit this is my struggle in CF now. I tend to stop or take a break because I don’t like the uncomfortable feeling. The magic is when you keep moving past it and prove to yourself that you could do it! Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. It’s a day to day thing. I want to be more consistent with it. I try to tell myself when I’m in the middle of a WOD that I believe I can keep going. Yes I’m actually having a small conversation with myself to push myself. It’s just another area I’ll keep working at.
This year I feel like my mental toughness has been tested a LOT. It has been one of the busiest, hardest, and best years of my life. So many good things happened but those good things brought a lot of stress into my life. It brought to light some of my weaknesses and strengths. I am one who does not deal with stress well. I have actually gotten shingles twice in the last two years! (I’m not kidding…) This year has challenged me and put me in uncomfortable situations and made me feel overwhelmed. But I pushed through. I worked at not stressing and communicating to others and asking for help. I had to accept I just couldn’t do everything myself. But the big picture is that I got through it! Just like that 20 minute WOD I didn’t want to do the other day. 😉
So your life is so similar CrossFit because it’s a constant challenge to improve. Keep working towards a goal. Keep pushing yourself. Believe in yourself. Believe that you can push past that uncomfortableness. It will be worth it.
