Making Time

Making Time

Life can be so busy, right?!  Yes of course it is.  I feel lucky that I am busy…most of the time.  I do because there was a point in my life I was the opposite of busy.  I was bored, so I started to make changes.  For me a big part of life, like most everyone, is my job.  It’s 9 hours a day but it’s how I support myself and my family.  It’s got to be done.  But I love going to the gym and what it has done for me.  It is what keeps me healthy and constantly challenged.  I also love to spend time with friends.  But it isn’t as much as I’d like but I try to make time or schedule things out since I am really busy.

One of my biggest problems is using the excuse “I don’t have time”!  I’m working on it.  You can ask Coach Jeremy.  He calls me out on it all the time…more than I would like at times.  But he’s right about it.  It’s not that I don’t have time.  It’s that I don’t make time for the things I either need or want to do.  So if you don’t make it a priority then you won’t make time for it.  It is as simple as that.  It is completely up to you to make those changes. Not your significant other or your friends or your family.  It is up to you!

What can you do to make time for the things you want to do?  Sit down and figure out what your schedule is each day of the week.  What days do you have commitments or days that are free?  Where can you find time for the gym, your hobby, your significant other, and your friends and family.

Here’s my breakdown:

  • Monday’s are for my Atlanta Active Care appointments or any other appointments.

  • Tuesdays’ are for when I do all the accounting/retail stuff for the gym. But that stuff spills into other days

  • Wednesday’s I coach a CrossFit class (which I’m on a hiatus now because it became too overwhelming but I will be back once things even out)

  • Thursday’s are usually for me to veg out, do nothing but watch TV when I get home.  Not lately though, they are more like my Tuesday’s. 😉

  • Friday’s are typically my time with Jeremy or with friends too or our Friday Night Fitness Sports

  • Saturday’s are when I get to do the extras or see friends or family and now grocery shopping.

  • Sunday’s are for food prep…duh. 😉

If you can’t tell my time is valuable and I don’t really have a lot of extra time.  I work out early in the morning before work.  That is a big part of my me time and it is one of the best parts of my day even if I have to get up at 4:40am to get that time for me.  I’ve come to understand this more and more.  It means sometimes missing out on things I’d really like to do so I won’t get behind on the important things.  I am lucky to have a few friends who get my life.  But biggest lesson I’ve learned is that if I make it a priority then I will make time for it!
