Erica Parks – December Member Spotlight

By admin 0

Erica has been a member at Max Kane for over a year and has seen huge improvements in her fitness level since she started. She comes to the 6:30 p.m. class almost every night and always puts in the extra work to overcome her weaknesses.

How did you hear about CrossFit and what was your first experience/WOD?
I started following crossfitters on Facebook and instagram and that’s what got me interested in it. My boyfriend and I decided to check out Max Kane a little over a year ago. My first WOD was Barbara and it was definitely a tough one. I wanted to stop and I remember thinking “what was I thinking?,” but I got through it and I’m still here.

When did you first come to Max Kane?
I started working out at Max Kane in the middle of September of 2015.

How many days do you CrossFit?

4-5 days a week.

What do you do for a living?

I’m a phlebotomist at Northeast Georgia Medical Center

What motivates you/keeps you coming back to Max Kane?

Since I started crossfit I have seen so many improvements in my performance, my lifts and definitely my gains. I have achieved so much in the last year with the help of  some great coaches that I have honestly surprised myself but I’m so happy that I’ve seen so much chance and accomplishments and that’s what drives me to come back for more.

What accomplishment are you the most proud of (outside and inside of the gym)?

I am currently working on a Physical Therapy degree and that is the main accomplishment outside the gym that I am focusing on. Inside the gym I have persisted at getting better at a lot of things and I have but the day I got my first STRICT pull-up was a happy day for me.

What are some of your interests outside of CrossFit?

I enjoy spending time with my loved ones and playing with my little yorkie poo.

What is one goal that you are currently working on?

I have so many goals in the gym right now, so many things I plan to get better at. I will say my current goal is to not stop, not to give up, and to keep pushing myself even if it hurts. I have seen the rewards, they are worth it!
